Friendly House/EngAGE Program
Starting in 2017, I taught classes through Friendly House at Cascadian Terrace, a fully subsidized apartment complex in North Portland. My intention with the students was to connect to creating in ways that follow their curiosity and yet are fun and relaxing.
These classes provide a therapeutic affect for students while engaging in mentally stimulating activity. One student recently told me he especially comes to class because he knows it lowers his blood pressure. In 2017, I worked with Friendly House staff to offer The Art of Living Well, a class that combines discussion topics on wellness with creative activities that support developing healthy habits. Activities included within the program were meditative and collaborative in nature. |
